I can't believe it's finally cut together, and that I've actually watched the film that I invested the majority of my life savings into (up until this point) -- the film that I helped produce in L.A. over the summer when I visited (and contributed to a component of the location scouting as well).
It's so strange to see the finished result of something that you assisted in creating by co-investing the money you've been saving for years, and years, and years. And I'm not even concerned about making the money back, even though I'm broke now; it's just a feeling like no other to see the final product of a work of art that you actually succeeded in helping produce, knowing that you were a piece of a project that's going to outlast even your own existence.
A project that a cast & crew put their heart and soul into, frozen forever within the confines of the Filmic Infinity... <3

Found out some great news today in that Matthew David Wilder's Regarding the Case of Joan of Arc, which I helped produce last summer, was selected as the Centerpiece Film at the International Film Festival of India, in Goa, and is scheduled to screen on the 22nd of November.

I've had the good fortune to see this film, Regarding the Case of Joan of Arc.
I will need to watch this again, in it's final form, but as for now, it was a quite stunning piece of work.
Hugely dense in it's material, with many threads forming, and lots to consider; a film apt for the times of disarray and disillusion.Terrific camerawork, signifying a hand of a very assured and confident director, easily able to communicate emotions and feelings through each movement, each carefully considered shot.
A sparse and minimalistic production, it really caters to the whole atmosphere of the situation. Some breath-taking audio-visuals sequences. Due to the minimalist style, these parts really touch the soul.
I'm quite sure this film will be of importance in 2018.
I look forward to watching it again.

A stunning religious piece with outstanding camera work, outstanding dialogue and most of all outstanding acting, Nicole was tremendous.
A beautiful film, 2018 is going to be a killer year for cinema.

So, this was released today as AMERICAN MARTYR with a cover that makes it look like generic Wal Mart action junk. In reality, it's kinda like if Steven Soderbergh tried his hand at a Joan of Arc film, but got bored half-way through and just released the rough cut. I can't remember the last time I watched a film that felt so unfinished. There's no ambient sound and the on-set dialogue sloppily cuts in that classic assembly edit style. I could generously consider the lack of polish is purposeful because it gives things an eerily uncomfortable feel, but I bet the director would have liked one more audio pass.
Like most versions of the story, it focuses on Joan on…

Nicole LaLiberite is an interesting actress with real presence, and the underlying concept here has potential, but Regarding the Case of Joan of Arc is sorely lacking in dramatic tension and hamstrung by pretty limited production design and sound editing.
