Feedback and Suggestions - Suggestion for new Transfigured Autoexertion Gem - Forum - Path of Exile (2024)

I have been playing as a Chieftain with a focus on improving my Warcry Buff Effect to support my friend. While the power granted is comparable to the popular Aura Bot build archetype, it is much more straining on the player.
Playstyle
My current playstyle is staying near my friend while cycling through the 5 buttons on my keyboard to activate my first 5 warcries (bound skills 4-8), then using the Ctrl modifier key + appropriate key to activate the next 2 warcries (bound skills 9-10).
Issue
Since the warcry buffs are temporary and require line of sight when activated, I am repeating this cycle every 5 seconds (as soon as cooldown ends) to ensure the carry (my friend) is constantly buffed, as failing to maintain the buffs up usually results in the carry's death. Activating 7 separate skills is stressful enough on my hands, but trying to ensure I am within range and line-of-sight of the carry makes the situation much more difficult, especially in indoor maps like Scriptorium or Dungeon. This is partly because the warcry is not instant cast, so I have to pause my movement to use the warcry, while also staying with the carry.

Suggestions

• Create a Transfigured "Autoexertion of Contradiction" gem specifically for players seeking to support their party with warcry buffs rather than exerting their own attacks. (Or just make it a separate gem altogether)
  
  • Like the existing Autoexertion gem, this gem would automatically trigger Warcries when their cooldown is over.
  • Like the existing Autoexertion gem, this gem would disable one aspect of Warcries, in this case it would disable the Exerted Attacks granted by Warcries.
  • This gem would solve the issue I have been experiencing in which I cannot keep up with the carry as a result of needing to stop every 5 seconds for up to a combined ~2.59 seconds (0.37s use time on each of my Warcries). I realize that I am not rooted in place for the full 0.37s use time, but I am still locked in place for a significant amount of time.
• Instead of an alternative to Autoexertion, create a gem similar to the one planned for Auras in PoE 2, which allows all linked gems to be triggered with a single action.
  
  • This would maintain the current active playstyle, which is more active than Link skills, but significantly reduce the hand strain imposed on the player by lowering the number of buttons they need to press to activate all their warcries from 7 keypresses down to potentially 2 keypresses (5 on a six link + 2 somewhere else, or 4 on a 5 link + 3 somewhere else) or 3 keypresses (6 on two 4 links and 1 standalone).
  • This gem would also disable Exerted Attacks.
• Remove the line-of-sight requirement for Warcries to grant buffs to allies
  
  • This one is of higher priority and should be implemented regardless of the decision on the above two suggestions
  • This would solve the issue of being unable to buff allies with Warcries when they go through a door while you are using a Warcry.
  • The recent patch, 3.25.0 Hotfix 8, fixed this same issue with Banners, so we have precedence for this type of change. Not to mention that it's more logical for a warcry to be heard from behind a wall than it is for a banner to be seen behind a wall.

I'm sure there are other possible solutions, but these are the best solutions I could come up with to alleviate the strain on my hand I have experienced with this support build archetype. I hope something can be done to reduce the need for this piano-like playstyle now and in the future.

Edit: I forgot to mention, I have every Warcry duration node on the tree and I'm currently using More Duration support for each Warcry to reduce the need for repeating this piano-cycle. So duration isn't an issue, at least when it comes to buffing myself. However in party-play I can't control where my allies are at all times, so sometimes they leave my side while I'm going through the warcries and I have to catch up to them to continue granting them the rest of the buffs.

I ended up using More Duration Support along with two of the warcry clusters to get duration up to about 9 sec. Since I'm doing RF, I actually get the second benefit of Malevolence, so there's another second. Early on, though, it was messy having to reactivate buffs every 6-7 sec.

Somewhat unrelated, but I find that I'd rather have more sources of warcry speed just to make the activation not feel like forever when using multiple warcries.

My duration is currently sitting at 10.49s, so duration isn't to big of an issue. It's more the fact my build is for support rather than damage, and carries don't like to sit and wait for my buffs so I have to chase after them while essentially stunning myself to cast the warcries.

Yes, this would also be helpful! I did just get an amulet with a 34% inc Warcry speed mod, but it's not a drastic difference since I already had 80% inc Warcry speed from the passive tree.
